Students must read a science, social studies, and math book each nine weeks to fulfill the requirements of the Reading Aross the Curriculum standard. Students are encouraged to ask for help locating books which target topics that are being taught in the classroom. Research proves that if students read in the content areas (e.g. science, social studies, math) they will perform at higher levels on standardized tests.
Students will be receiving certificates based on their reading achievements. Those students who achieve Classic and Honor certification will have their certificates posted along with their picture. Classic and Honor students will be invited to a special luncheon once per semester. Honor certified readers will receive a trophy at the end of the year at the Honor's Day Program.
